This week we will begin a unit study comparing and contrasting The Gingerbread Man Stories. Our letter focus will be the letter Q. Please help your child identify words that begin with the letter "Q" sound.
Preschool will be attending the all school ice skating field trip on Thursday, December 21 at The Ann Arbor Ice Cube. Preschool will be leaving Thurston around 9:30 and returning around 12:45. Lunch will be provided and eaten at The Ice Cube before returning to Thurston. There are many volunteering opportunities for this event. Permission slip went home with your child on Thursday, please make sure to return the permission slip by December 8. Your child will need a bike Helmet to participate. If you have any questions or concerns regarding this event please speak with Mrs. Geidner.
We are working so hard to create and ensure Safe Routes to School here at Thurston. Each week we will add safety tip.
- HOME SAFETY TIP: A good time to remember to check your smoke alarm and change the batteries is when you change your clocks twice a year as daylight savings time begins and ends. Just a reminder if you forgot to check recently.
- SCHOOL SAFETY TIP: We are trying our best to place cones daily as a reminder that the lane marked “Buses Only” remains clear. Please refrain from parking in this marked zone, even when cones have been moved.
As we approach the holiday season PLEASE consider coming in and sharing a holiday custom/tradition you do with your family. For example; an activity that you do with your family that you could share with preschool, a special story that tells about your families holiday/tradition, a holiday game preschool could play, or just share what your holiday tradition is and how your family celebrates. As a preschool family we encourage our preschoolers to share and learn about the similarities and differences among our at home families. If you are interested in sharing with preschool please contact Mrs. Geidner.
Preschool needs your help in collecting gallon milk jugs for a project. Please wash and recap before bringing in to preschool. We need a lot of milk jugs to complete this project so your help is greatly appreciated!
Please continue to look at your packaged goods for Box Top for Education, they are on a variety of products. Thurston school participates in this program and receives 10 cents for every box top turned in.
