This week we will continue our unit study on Emotions. We have been using the "Zones of Regulation" color method for expressing how our bodies feel. You may hear some of these terms when talking with the preschoolers:
Blue: Sad, tired, sick
Green: Good to Go, Focused and ready to learn (where we want to be)
Yellow: Excited, silly, wiggles, frustrated
Red: Anger, Rage
So if you think of them as street signs Blue is Rest Area, Green is Go,Yellow is Yield/Slow, and Red is Stop.
Our letter focus is the letter C. Please help your child identify words that begin with the letter "C" sound. We are trying to see how many words we can identify that start with our focus letter every week, making a list with your preschooler and sending it in for them to share with the class is a great way to reinforce letter and sound recognition.
Story Bags have started coming home with the preschoolers, if your child has not had one they will soon. A Story Bag is a story and a stuffed friend that visit the preschoolers home. When a story bag comes home with your child, please read the story with your child and have them tell you their favorite part of the story. In the Story Bag you will also find a spiral notebook, please help your child to write their favorite part of the story and draw a picture and or write some of the words. They will then present this to the class, along with any fun thing they did or shared with the stuffed friend while it visited their home. Please let your child enjoy the book bag and its contents at your home, and return after a few day to school for another friend to have a turn.
Did you get too much Halloween Candy? The Community Service club is collecting your unwanted/excess candy that has not been opened to donate to Operation Gratitude. Operation Gratitude is an organization that sends care packages to our veterans and troops. Additionally, you are welcome to include a letter or drawing for our troops with your donations. Preschool has a bag for collection located on the sign in table. Last Day to donate is this Tuesday, November 14.
