This week we will begin our unit study on the season of Autumn and Trees. Our letter focus is the letter E. Please help your child identify words that begin with the letter "E" sound, you could write these words down on a piece of paper and we can add them to our word list. We are trying to see how many words we can identify that start with our focus letter every week. The mystery bag is circulating, when your child brings the mystery bag home please find an item or picture of an item that begins with the focus letter. Once your child chooses the item, help your child to come up with 3 clues that describe the item. Your child will give the 3 clues to the class and the preschoolers try to guess what item is in the bag. Please remember no violent toys and no weapons.
Preschool is still looking for new shapes for its Shape Museum. Please do a shape walk around your house with your child and find 2 or 3 items, have your child identify what shape the item is. Have your child bring the item in for preschools Shape Museum, please make sure that the items you pick are not of special value and that they can stay at school in our museum for several weeks. When your child brings in their shapes from home they will show and identify them to the rest of the preschool class.
Preschool is part of the Fluoride Varnish Program "Smiles for a Lifetime". Fluoride Varnish is an excellent way to help prevent cavities and is being offered to you at no cost. The Fluoride Varnish will be done on November 15. Please watch for the permission slip for this application and return it to preschool as quickly as possible. If you have any questions regarding this program please speak with Mrs. Geidner.

Halloween is a very big event at Thurston. Thurston will be having a Halloween Parade. Your student will be able to bring in their Halloween costume and walk in the parade with the other Thurston students through the Thurston neighborhood. Preschool will not be wearing their costumes all day, please send your child's costume in a bag, and make sure the costume can fit over their normal daily clothing. We will need some volunteer parents to help our preschooler change into their costume before the parade. The parade normally takes place at the end of the day, I will let you know the exact time as the date gets closer. Please remember that no weapons are allowed as part of the costume and nothing too scary or grotesque. Please contact Mrs. Geidner if you have any questions, concerns, or would like to volunteer to help dress the preschooler.
Preschool could use a few packages of flushable wipes, if you are interested in donating that would be greatly appreciated.
We are noticing that a few of our friends do not have an extra change of clothes in their rest time bags, please make sure your child has a complete change of clothes (sock and underwear too) in their rest time bag just in case. This is greatly appreciated by both your child and preschool if an incident should occur.
Just a reminder that if your child is going to be absent please contact the preschool room at 734-997-1243 or send an email to Mrs. Geidner. This number rings the preschool room directly, if we are out of the room you may also leave a message.
Thank you for your continued support,
