I hope everyone is enjoying this beautiful Memorial Day! It is hard to believe that there are only three more weeks of Preschool left. This week we are going to be continuing on our Spring unit, further looking at whats moving. This week preschool will also be starting a Project Lead The Way (PLTW) program with Mrs. Manthey, she has developed an age appropriate hands on science unit to share with the preschoolers looking at Space. She will be working with the preschoolers everyday for the next three weeks.
Preschool had a fun filled Field Day on Friday, and did a great job participating and trying new activities. It was fun for all, and great to have most of our non Friday friends come and play with us. Thanks to all the parents who braved the heat and helped make Field Day a fun experience!
As you are doing your spring cleaning don't throw old books away. Thurston will be collecting books for the Used Book Sale, books can be dropped off at the collection table located by Thurston's main office. The Used Book Sale/Spring Social is June 8.
The last day of preschool is Friday, June 15. I would like to invite all of our Preschool friends to come and say good-bye on the last day of school. The last day of school is a half day. Please let Mrs. Geidner know if your non Friday preschooler will be attending.
Safe Tips From Haven the Heron:
This week’s tips are all about taking steps to stay safe around Water! Swimming is the most popular summer activity. One of the best things you can do to help your family stay safe is to enroll in age-appropriate swim lessons.
- Swim in designated areas supervised by lifeguards.
- Always swim with a buddy; do not allow anyone to swim alone. Even at a public pool or a lifeguarded beach, use the buddy system!
- Have young children or inexperienced swimmers wear U.S. Coast Guard-approved life jackets around water, but do not rely on life jackets alone.
- Even if you do not plan on swimming, be cautious around natural bodies of water including ocean shoreline, rivers and lakes. Cold temperatures, currents and underwater hazards can make a fall into these bodies of water dangerous.
