Heron Families,
On behalf of your Thurston school family, we hope that you all are staying safe and healthy. We have missed seeing you everyday and hope that this time apart will quickly come to an end.
While we are away from the building, we would like to stay connected through the use of technology and daily communication (Monday-Friday). Beginning this week, every morning, you can expect to receive a message and optional activity from your amazing classroom teacher. You should have received information directly from them regarding how, when and where this will happen. In addition, our fantastic special area teachers have each chosen a day to share an activity as well (please visit their websites for more information). These are optional at-home opportunities and NOT homework! Our only expectation for these activities is that the kids have fun and walk away with new & exciting experiences! Please email or reach out to your teachers if you do not know how to access these messages. .
As a staff, we recognize the challenges that you may face with supporting the long days and the need for active movement. In hopes of supporting this need, our grade level teams have also created an optional menu/schedule of daily activities that you and the kids can choose from during the day. Your individual teachers will be providing you with these various resources.
Once again, we encourage you to reach out to your classroom teachers, special area teachers, support staff or administrators regarding questions you may have. In addition, there is an AAPS technology helpline available to all families needing assistance @ 734-997-1222.
We are all here to help and will continue to take things one day at a time, together! Stay well and healthy Thurston Herons!
Kindly,
Ms. York & Ms. Callahan
