Hello Preschool Parents,
Given the unfortunate events that unfolded last week, I wanted to touch base with you this week, to give you some ideas of activities you can do with your preschooler. First of all, I encourage you to read with your child, and have them help you read familiar books. Why not finish the March is reading month ideas from Ms. B. Journals are also something I encourage you to do with your child. With spring coming they could look outside and notice the changes that they see, a robin, the buds on the trees etc. Have them draw a picture and you can dictate what they say or help them label or write what they can.
Preschool was looking at each day and deciding if it was a lion or lamb day to determining the number of each or those types of days we had during the month. You could continue this counting and graphing activity, we had 5 lamb days so far and 4 lion days (we did not count weekend days). Based on the old saying "In like a Lion out like a Lamb" March should go out like a Lion, since it came in like a lamb.
Another activity the preschoolers were excited about was building a Leprechaun trap. Each child had drawn a plan of what their trap would look like and how they planned to make a trap to catch a Leprechaun. If you have an old box at home this could be an activity you could do with your preschooler and see if you can catch a leprechaun on Monday night. There are many websites that offer ideas on building a Leprechaun trap.
If you would like to continue with letters, reviewing letters A-U would be great, these are the letters we already have done. You could say a word and see if your child can identify the letter it starts with or challenge them to hear other letter sounds in the middle or at the end of the word. Have them practice writing letters in something fun like flour, rice or outside with sidewalk chalk. If you would like to focus on the new letters those are V-Z.
Many websites are offering free usage at this time, here are a few you might like to check out.
